Project Challenge

Low RFT (Right First Time) after the introduction of a new product on the assembly line (65%).

Strategy Applied

  1. Created a Multidisciplinary Working Group in conjunction with the OEM.
  2. Conducted several Brainstorming sessions.
  3. Used A3 to identify and measure actions.
  4. Created Quality Gates along the assembly process with Heijunka for critical observed items.
  5. Conducted consistent training of employees on the new products at stages where most failures occurred.

Implemented Results

  1. After only adequate training of employees in their respective assemblies, there was an improvement in RFT.
  2. After implementing Quality Gates (two on the assembly line), RFT returned to normal standards (85-88%), and later one of the gates was eliminated from the production process.
